Isla Cristina Spain

Isla Cristina is a city and municipality located in the province of Huelva, Spain. It is one of the most important fishing ports in Huelva province, its catch being highly prized throughout Spain. It is a popular summer holiday resort, particularly with the Spaniards themselves. Much of the attraction being the kilometers of 'Blue Flag' standard beaches. Due to the natural wealth of the coast, the hamlet developed rapidly; it went by the poetic name of Royal Island of the Little Fig Tree (Real Isla de la Higuerita). The magnificent beaches and marine resorts, such as Islantilla, Centro, and Punta del Caimán are some main tourist attractions. The carnival and the Atlantic Coral Festival are also famous. In the township we find the Marshes of Isla Cristina nature park, containing habitats with different salinity levels, where we can observe a rich and diverse flora, and a remarkable number of birds.
